  • Displaced Palestinians are reeling after heavy rains flooded their tents in makeshift camps in Gaza City, as the United Nations warns that Israeli restrictions on aid have left hundreds of thousands of families without adequate shelter.
  • Israeli attacks have killed at least three people in Gaza today, as Israel’s Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu reportedly tells a cabinet meeting he is unsure of how long the ceasefire will last.
  • Two Palestinians have been shot dead by Israeli forces in the occupied West Bank, one a 15-year-old boy in the Far’a camp, authorities say.
  • The United Nations Interim Force in Lebanon says that Israeli soldiers fired at its peacekeepers from a tank near an army position in southern Lebanon.
  • Israel’s war on Gaza has killed at least 69,483 Palestinians and wounded 170,706 since October 2023. A total of 1,139 people were killed in Israel during the October 7, 2023, Hamas-led attacks, and about 200 were taken captive.

    • An Israeli drone strike killed one person after targeting Lebanon’s town of al-Mansouri, near Tyre.
    • The Israeli government announced the establishment of an independent investigative committee – and not a state commission of inquiry – to look into the failures that led to the Hamas-led October 7 attacks in southern Israel in 2023.
    • Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu told his cabinet he “did not know” how long the Gaza ceasefire would hold, according to The Jerusalem Post.
    • Israeli forces have shot dead a 15-year-old ninth grader in the Far’a refugee camp in the occupied West Bank, education officials have said.
    • The United Nations Interim Force in Lebanon has said Israeli soldiers have fired at its peacekeepers from a tank near an army position in southern Lebanon. Israel said its soldiers fired due to “poor weather conditions” and mistook the UN patrol for “suspects”.

Netanyahu defends most Israeli settlers as ‘law-abiding’

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has claimed that the escalating wave of violence against Palestinians in the occupied West Bank “does not represent the large community of settlers who are law-abiding and loyal to the state”, The Jerusalem Post is reporting.

Netanyahu said the uptick in settler violence is “caused by a minority”, according to the outlet.

The UN’s humanitarian office tracked more than 260 Israeli settler attacks in October alone in the occupied West Bank – the highest number in a single month since the agency began tracking them in 2006.

Israel is pushing to formally annex the Palestinian territory in violation of international law.

What’s going on with the Israel-Lebanon conflict?

Israel’s attacks on Lebanon today add to a series of escalating violations of the ceasefire agreement that came into effect in November 2024. Here’s the latest:

    • As we’ve been reporting, an Israeli drone strike targeted a car in the southern town of al-Mansouri, near Tyre, where Lebanon’s National News Agency says it killed a school principal.
    • Israeli forces also shot at the UN Interim Force (UNIFIL) peacekeepers in the Hammis area of southern Lebanon. Israel claimed its soldiers mistook the UN patrollers for “suspects” amid “poor weather conditions”.
    • UNIFIL is collaborating with the Lebanese army to sustain a peace agreement between Israel and Hezbollah – which brought an end to hostilities that exploded into full-blown war starting on October 8, 2023.
    • Israel killed more than 4,000 people – largely civilians – during the yearlong war, which also displaced more than a million people and saw villages razed to the ground.
    • After a ceasefire was signed on November 27 last year, however, Israel has refused to withdraw from at least five areas of Lebanese territory and kept up its near-daily violations of the truce – a “no war, no peace” policy that it also appears to be practising in Gaza.
    • Israel’s attacks have angered UNIFIL, which recently called for Israel to “cease any aggressive behaviour and attacks on or near peacekeepers”.

How many times has Israel violated the Gaza ceasefire?

One month into the declaration of a ceasefire in the Gaza Strip, Israel has violated the agreement with near-daily attacks, killing hundreds of people.

Israel violated the ceasefire agreement at least 282 times from October 10 to November 10, through the continuation of attacks by air, artillery and direct shootings, the Government Media Office in Gaza reports.

The office said Israel shot at civilians 88 times, raided residential areas beyond the “yellow line” 12 times, bombed Gaza 124 times, and demolished people’s properties on 52 occasions. It added that Israel also detained 23 Palestinians from Gaza over the past month.

Israel has also continued to block vital humanitarian aid and destroy homes and infrastructure across the Strip.

Al Jazeera tracked and compiled all of the ceasefire violations to date. Check out our findings here.

WATCH: Displaced Palestinian families suffer as heavy rains flood Gaza tent camps

Desperate and displaced Palestinians who’ve survived more than two years of war in Gaza are now enduring harsh weather conditions.

Heavy rain has flooded makeshift tents, causing some of them to collapse.

Many in southern Gaza say their belongings, including their bedding, are completely soaked after days of rain. Cold temperatures are worsening the already dire living conditions across the Strip.

Al Jazeera’s Hani Mahmoud is in Gaza City with more on how the harsh weather is posing serious health risks:

Haaretz investigation uncovers Al-Majd Europe’s role in facilitating Gaza families’ exit

    By Nour Odeh

Reporting from Ramallah, occupied West Bank

The Haaretz investigation reveals that Al-Majd Europe is a phoney company; the address it provides in occupied East Jerusalem is false; It doesn’t have registration in Germany, as it claimed; and its connection to another, shady individual, a dual Estonian-Israeli citizen Tomer Janar Lind.

This man is linked to several phoney companies, some listed in London, Dubai and so on, all having the wrong number or no registration.

Now, this man spoke to Haaretz, and he confirmed that he is facilitating the one-way exit of families out of Gaza in coordination with the Israeli army. But he declined to give out more information. Since the beginning of the year, the Israeli army has established a department run by the vice director-general of the Ministry of Defence in charge of so-called voluntary migration of Palestinians out of Gaza, and what that unit does is facilitate the exit of any Palestinian who wishes to leave the Strip.

As far as they’re concerned, that means they will not return. This is, of course, not the intended target of Palestinians wishing to leave for education, for medical treatment, or like those families who ended up in Johannesburg. They had no idea where they were going to be. They just wanted to be out of Gaza, some of them having visas to other third countries.

Israeli drone strike in southern Lebanon kills school principal: NNA

An Israeli drone strike has killed one person after targeting Lebanon’s town of al-Mansouri, near Tyre.

The Lebanese government’s National News Agency confirmed that “an attack by an enemy drone” in al-Mansouri has “resulted in the martyrdom of its school principal, Muhammad Shweikh”.

The drone targeted an area near the football grounds of Imam Musa al-Sadr Stadium, the agency added, and spawned a fire.

A correspondent for Lebanese newspaper Al Akhbar said Shweikh was the principal of al-Mansouri Public School, and that the drone targeted his car.

Israeli settlers steal agricultural equipment near Ramallah

The council head of al-Mughayyir village, northeast of Ramallah in the occupied West Bank, has told Wafa that Israeli settlers have attacked the village’s eastern plains and taken off with residents’ agricultural equipment.

As we reported earlier, the UN’s humanitarian agency (OCHA) has documented 167 settler attacks related to this year’s olive harvest season, affecting 87 Palestinian communities.

In August, the Israeli military destroyed 3,000 olive trees in al-Mughayyir in an attack that also saw troops storm more than 30 homes.

Israel pushes US to close door on Palestinian statehood before UNSC vote

    By Lorraine Mallinder

Israel is engaged in a last-ditch bid to change the wording of a United Nations Security Council (UNSC) resolution on the next phase of United States President Donald Trump’s Gaza peace plan that was recently amended to mention a “credible pathway” to Palestinian statehood.

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu told his cabinet on Sunday that his opposition to a Palestinian state had “not changed one bit”, one day before the UNSC votes on the US-drafted resolution, which would mandate a transitional administration and an international stabilisation force (ISF) in Gaza.

Israeli public broadcaster Kan reported on Sunday that Netanyahu’s government was engaged in a last-minute diplomatic push to alter the draft resolution, which the US had changed to include more defined language about Palestinian self-determination under pressure from Arab and Muslim countries expected to contribute troops to the ISF.

The draft now says that “conditions may be in place for a credible pathway to Palestinian self-determination and statehood” after reforms to the Palestinian Authority are “faithfully carried out and Gaza redevelopment has advanced”.

If you’re just joining us, here are the latest developments:

    • A boy who was shot dead by Israeli security forces earlier today in the Far’a refugee camp was a 15-year-old ninth grader, Palestinian education officials said.
    • Palestinian factions are calling on Algeria – a non-permanent member of the United Nations Security Council (UNSC) – to reject the plan for stabilisation forces to be deployed in Gaza.
    • The UNSC is slated to vote on a draft tomorrow that would allow roughly 20,000 foreign troops – empowered to use force – to secure Gaza’s borders, train Palestinian police and demilitarise police.
    • The October Council, a group representing family members of captives and those killed in the Hamas-led October 7 attacks, has rejected Israel’s announcement earlier today that a government-appointed investigative committee – rather than a state commission of inquiry – will examine the 2023 events.
    • An Israeli military vehicle “deliberately” hit a public transport vehicle in the occupied West Bank, injuring two Palestinians, local sources told Wafa news agency.

Netanyahu does ‘not know’ how long Gaza ceasefire will last: Report

More details are emerging from an Israeli cabinet meeting today over the future of Gaza, a day before the UN Security Council is slated to vote on a draft plan for the besieged enclave.

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu told his cabinet he “did not know” how long the Gaza ceasefire would hold, according to The Jerusalem Post. He emphasised to ministers that Israel is “working to conclude Phase A” and that Israel is still expecting the remains of three captives to be returned by Hamas.

“We did not go to war only to free hostages,” National Missions Minister Orit Strock reportedly shot back.

The prime minister went on to say that foreign forces are “reluctant” to enter Gaza, the paper reported.

Although the Gaza stabilisation force could theoretically include up to 20,000 troops, it is not yet clear which countries may commit to sending them, and Israel has roundly rejected the possibility of Turkish participation.

Netanyahu demurred when asked about the timing of the stabilisation effort.

“We cannot ignore our managing of a seven-front war … the amount of time left cannot be quantified,” he said.

Palestinian boy killed in Far’a was ninth-grade student: Ministry of Education

The boy who was shot dead by Israeli security forces earlier today in the Far’a refugee camp was a 15-year-old ninth grader, education officials say.

Security sources have identified the boy as Jadallah Jihad Jumaa Jadallah, Wafa news agency reported. The Ministry of Education confirmed he attended ninth grade at a UNRWA-run school in the Far’a camp.

As we reported earlier, Israeli forces invaded Far’a, located south of the city of Tubas in the occupied West Bank, shot the boy and injured two others. Soldiers refused to allow ambulance crews to assist him, and later claimed without evidence he was a “terrorist”.

Israeli forces are still holding the boy’s body, Wafa reported.

Hamas, other Palestinian factions reject Gaza stabilisation plan

Palestinian factions are calling on Algeria – a non-permanent member of the United Nations Security Council (UNSC) – to reject the plan for stabilisation forces to be deployed in Gaza.

The UNSC is slated to vote on a draft tomorrow that would allow roughly 20,000 foreign troops – empowered to use force – to secure Gaza’s borders, train Palestinian police and demilitarise police.

In a statement, the factions called the efforts “a new attempt to impose another form of occupation on our land and people, and to legitimise foreign trusteeship”.

“We direct a sincere and fraternal appeal to the Algerian Republic, government and people, to continue adhering to its principled positions supporting Palestine, and its steadfast rejection of any projects targeting Gaza’s identity and our people’s right to self-determination,” the statement added.

The leader of the Popular Front for the Liberation of Palestine, Maher al-Taher, separately said the current plan’s danger “lies in turning the Gaza Strip into an area outside Palestinian governance” with a transitional phase that “may last for years, which poses a significant danger and keeps the Gaza Strip under a new occupation”.

Video shows Israeli forces surrounding injured Palestinian boy in West Bank raid

More details are emerging about the raid that occurred earlier today at the Far’a camp.

As we’ve been reporting, Israeli forces shot a young Palestinian man as they raided the camp located south of the city of Tubas in the occupied West Bank – then prevented the paramedics from assisting him.

Al Jazeera’s fact-checking unit, Sanad, has verified two videos posted to Telegram from the shooting. One shows a young man, injured by Israeli forces, lying on the ground while surrounded by a number of soldiers.

A second verified video shows a large bloodstain on the ground in the shape of a human body.

Palestinian news agency Wafa reported that three young men were injured in the raid, but ambulance crews were only allowed to treat two of them – a 16-year-old and an 18-year-old, both of whom received shrapnel wounds.

Citing security sources, Wafa said Israeli forces “arrested” the third boy after he was shot and refused to let ambulance crews near him.

Israeli-Estonian citizen is behind shadowy organisation arranging flights out of Gaza: Report

Israeli newspaper Haaretz is reporting the identity of a person with alleged links to Al-Majd Europe.

As we’ve been reporting, a chartered plane carrying 153 Palestinians landed near Johannesburg on Thursday, confusing South African officials and prompting a wave of scrutiny into the organisation that arranged the flight – in exchange for hefty fees that passengers paid to personal accounts.

Using a previous version of the Al-Majd website, Haaretz found the logo of another company – Estonian Talent Globus – that advertised “conditions for voluntary emigration from the Gaza Strip”.

Talent Globus was registered last year by Tomer Janar Lind, an Israeli-Estonian citizen who previously registered four companies in the United Kingdom and has a UK phone number.

When reached by Haaretz, Lind “did not deny his involvement in arranging the departures from Gaza but refused to say who is behind the organisation”, the outlet reported.

UN figures show deteriorating situation in occupied West Bank

Every week, the United Nations Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (OCHA) gives an update on the humanitarian situation in the occupied West Bank. Here are a few key facts from its latest report:

    • This year, more than 1,500 Palestinians have been displaced by demolitions due to the lack of permits, which are almost impossible to obtain, including about 1,000 people in Area C and 500 in occupied East Jerusalem.
    • Satellite imagery shows that about 1,460 structures have been destroyed or damaged in the Jenin, Nur Shams and Tulkarem refugee camps.
    • Since October 1, OCHA has documented 167 settler attacks related to this year’s olive harvest season, affecting 87 Palestinian communities.
    • Between November 4 and 10, Israeli forces killed four Palestinians, including three children, in the West Bank, including East Jerusalem.
    • Since January, 45 Palestinian children have been killed by Israeli forces – about 23 percent of Palestinians killed by Israeli forces in the West Bank so far this year.
    • Since January, Israeli forces’ operations in refugee camps in the northern West Bank – Jenin, Nur Shams and Tulkarem – have generated the longest and largest displacement crisis in the territory since 1967. As of September, UNRWA figures indicate that at least 31,919 Palestinian refugees have been displaced from the three refugee camps and surrounding areas.
