It is Sporting’s only second victory over City in all competitions. They last defeated City 1-0 in the Europa League in 2012.
The result will also be extra special for Sporting fans as this was their team’s final Champions League game under manager Amorim, who will take over City’s rivals Man United in the Premier League later this month.
