    Goodbye for now

That’s it from our live pages on Saturday and the quarterfinals of the Asian Cup and AFCON.

The Player of the Match – guess who?

A shutout after 120 minutes and four saves in five Cape Verde penalties – there could be only one player of the match…

    🇿🇦 Ronwen Williams 🇿🇦

Osimhen vs Williams will be some match-up

It’s Nigeria in the next round and not only Osimhen but Lookman will have a fair say as well, after his goalscoring feats in the last two rounds.

    It’s penalties

Bebe has two moments late on. One a run-through but he doesn’t find the pass to lay on for a striker.

The next is a long-range drive from all of 30 yards and left the bench livid.

That phrase is usually followed by something spectacular by the South African midfielder.

It’s reasonable contact but bounces through to the keeper for a comfortable save.

Teixeira comes on for Rocha for Cape Verde.

South Africa have a corner in the meantime and, yes, you guessed it, overhit.

Neither side has been able to nail the set pieces in this game.

There have been 39 shots in total

Twenty-four of those are for Cape Verde but only two have been on target.

South Africa have managed 15 but have hit six on target.

There have been a lot of speculative efforts with neither side committing enough players forward would be my summary.
