That’s a wrap
Arsenal’s march to a first Premier League title in more than 20 years is bolstered after their 4-1 drubbing of local rivals Tottenham.
They will now shift their focus to the Champions League, where they take on Bayern Munich at home on November 26.
Spurs won’t have much time to lick their wounds, as they face Paris Saint-Germain away on the same day.

‘We dominated every part of the game’
Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta provided his views on the derby: “It’s a very special day for us. We knew the importance of the match and what it means to our fans. To be able to give them that joy – it’s a beautiful day.”
On Eberechi Eze’s scoring a North London derby hat-trick after over 30 years, he said: “That tells you about the difficulty and what he’s done today. To be fair, he could have scored four or five. He’s a big player who can create magic moments which unbalance a team.
“We dominated every part of the game. We created massive chances and had a lot of actions that we were very close to scoring. We stayed patient.
“Whoever we put in there, they do the jobs for us. This squad has the belief and quality to deliver consistently.
“We have really good momentum, but you can see how difficult every game in the Premier League is. It’s a long run. Let’s go game by game. Let’s enjoy tonight, then we have Bayern [Munich] here [on November 26] and Chelsea away [on November 30]. We have a tough week [ahead].”

‘We can only apologise to the fans for the performance’
Tottenham manager Thomas Frank dissected the match with Sky Sports: “I think it is extremely painful. I won’t talk away from that. It was a bad performance. It was completely the opposite of what the intention was when we came here.
“We can only apologise to the fans for the performance. When the team went long, we didn’t win enough duels. That is exemplified by the second goal and third goal, where a player went through two or three players. [It is a] bad performance, and we lost.
“I have seen a lot of character and fight in this team, but we didn’t win enough duels. We can call that whatever we want, but we didn’t win enough.
“I tried to play a 5-4-1. I will always take responsibility as my choice in the end to take the system. Then we changed it at half-time. My view on it is that no matter what formation we play today, we don’t have enough duels or intensity in the decisive moments, and it is very difficult to win a football match.
“The goals I want to see in more detail. The whole game I need to watch tonight, and it will be a difficult watch. We were not aggressive and stepping forward when we could, and they played it round us.
“[Regarding his team’s creativity] That has been an ongoing theme that we are working hard to improve. It doesn’t look good today or against Chelsea. We need to keep working on it.
“There were a lot of things in this game we need to do better. We are four months into it, and they are further in their journey as a team, and that was very obvious today. Of course, there will be noise. We played against our biggest rivals and we lost badly.
“But we keep the noise out and we focus. I know this team is very competitive. I know this team is competitive and we showed that against Man City and PSG. Of course, it looks bad today, and it was not good enough.”

‘Today we didn’t fight as a collective. That is not negotiable, especially at this level’
Spurs keeper Guglielmo Vicario spoke with Sky Sports following the match: “We were very bad. First of all, we have to apologise to the people who support us. Today we didn’t fight as a collective. That is not negotiable, especially at this level.
“Now is a tough night. It is a very bad defeat, but we have to stick together. We have a big night again on Wednesday [against Paris Saint-Germain in the Champions League]. We have to stick together and believe in each other more.
“The emotions are high right now, especially when you lose a derby like this, but we need cool heads.
“I don’t know the answer [as to why they lost?] – probably many things. We were a bit too passive. The game plan we prepared was a little different. We didn’t recognise situations to put pressure and fight.
“We need to fight every day, and fight every duel. In that aspect, we didn’t play our game. You can speak about tactics and buildup, but if you don’t put in a performance as a collective …
“Today we didn’t show it.”

Was it ever in any doubt? This is what the Arsenal midfielder had to say to Sky Sports: “Yeah that’s a good one [reflecting on his hat-trick]. Happy to help the team and win for them. It is special.
“I am grateful for this. I have worked hard for this. That was the prayer today, for a hat-trick. All my family is here. It makes it even more special.”

Players scrapping
It is getting rather unsavoury now between the sides.
Rice is at the centre of it, as a few Spurs players lunge at the England international, before the teams come together.
Replays confirm that the player hip-checked Simons rather unceremoniously, with the visitors letting their thoughts known. As a result, he is shown a yellow card for his involvement.

- For 36 minutes, the North London derby was a cagey contest, with Tottenham managing to frustrate Mikel Arteta’s side. But the hosts struck three times in 10 minutes either side of halftime.
- Leandro Trossard broke the deadlock from close range before Eze, the player Arsenal snatched from Tottenham in a summer transfer tussle, rifled in Arsenal’s second goal after 41 minutes.
- The second half was only seconds old when Eze again found space on the edge of the area to dispatch another shot inside the post and put his side in complete control.
- Tottenham got a lifeline out of the blue in stunning fashion in the 55th minute when Richarlison lobbed Arsenal keeper David Raya from near the centre circle.
- The visitors were more of a threat in the second half, but Arsenal never really looked troubled, and Eze completed his hat-trick in the 76th minute with another clinical finish.
- Arsenal, unbeaten in nine league games, have 29 points from 12 games, with second-placed Chelsea on 23. Tottenham’s first away league defeat of the season left them ninth on 18 points.
