Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall’s superb first-half goal on Monday sealed a 1-0 win for the visitors, who shrugged off the 13th-minute incident that had a furious Gueye dismissed after he and Keane squared up.

Here’s what United manager Amorim had to say
“They were the better team, with 11 players or 10. I felt from the first minute that we were not there with the same intensity, so they deserve the win,” Ruben Amorim said.
“We needed to be focused. We need to do more.”
“Forget about the results. The results are really bad, but I’m more concerned with my feelings during the game. We have training tomorrow; I will deal with it tomorrow.”

Moyes talks about Gueye’s red card incident
“If nothing happened, I don’t think anyone in the stadium would have been surprised. I thought the referee could have taken a bit longer to think about it,” Everton manager David Moyes told Sky Sports.
“I got told that the rules of the game are that if you slap your own player, you could be in trouble. But there’s another side to it: I like my players fighting each other if someone didn’t do the right action. If you want that toughness and resilience to get a result, you want someone to act on it.
“I’m disappointed we got the sending off. But we’ve all been footballers; we get angry with our teammates. He’s apologised for the sending off. He’s praised the players and thanked them for it, and apologised for what happened.”

Moyes ‘incredibly proud’ of 10-man Everton’s hard-fought win
“I’m incredibly proud of the players and supporters here tonight because we’ve had so many encounters here without getting a result,” said Everton manager Moyes.
“Tonight, we incredibly got over the line with 10 men, which is the hardest way to get a result here.
“For long parts of the game, we had to sit in and defend. The resilience and the toughness behind the scenes at Everton is really good, and it showed tonight.”

Defeats feels like ‘a step back’, de Ligt says
“I think the game says enough; against 10 men for 70 minutes and not creating that many chances,” the Dutch defender told Sky Sports. “Today was not a good night for us.
“We lacked the patience to play through the lines, and we crossed a lot of balls. We need to do a lot more.
“In all aspects today, it felt like a step back. Not just the result, but the intensity and the focus.”

‘Keane has accepted Gueye’s apology’
“Absolutely unbelievable. We made it a little bit difficult for ourselves, but some performance,” Everton defender Tarkowski told Premier League Productions.
“Showed bravery, determination, fight and spirit. Massive, that.”
When asked about Gueye’s red-card incident, Tarkowski added: “I didn’t see it, I was walking away to be honest.
“He spoke after the game and apologised. He’s a very experienced player and very competitive; he’s accepted that he’s made a mistake tonight. Keane has accepted the apology. We’ll move on from it quickly.”

‘Gueye has apologised’
“We started really well – the situation happened,” Dewsbury-Hall said, referring to Gueye’s red card. “It was a moment of madness, avoidable. But all I can say is Idrissa has apologised to us at full time, said his piece, and that’s all he can do.
“We move on from it. The reaction from us was unbelievable. Top tier. We could have crumbled, but if anything, it made us grow.
“He [Moyes, at half-time] just said: that’s done now. We’ll deal with that another time. It was about keeping to the plan we had. He made sure we do the right things, continue what we’re doing. We can’t change that now. Second half, we continued to do that.”

Let’s hear from Everton’s scorer Dewsbury-Hall
“Roller coaster game. I’ll sleep well tonight, put it that way,” match-winner Dewsbury-Hall told Sky Sports.
“So genuinely happy for the lads and how hard they worked. A fantastic performance of gritting away, getting a goal and keeping that spirit. So glad we got the three points.”

Recap: Everton beat Man Utd despite Gueye seeing red for slap on teammate
Everton enjoyed their first Premier League win at Manchester United for 12 years despite playing the entire game virtually with 10 men after midfielder Idrissa Gueye was sent off for slapping his own teammate, Michael Keane.
Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall’s superb first-half goal sealed a 1-0 win for the visitors, who shrugged off the 13th-minute incident that had a furious Gueye dismissed after he and Keane squared up.
United, who could have moved up to fourth with a win, dominated possession, especially in the second half. But Everton defended superbly to repel the hosts, who looked blunt in attack.
Everton goalkeeper Jordan Pickford made several fine saves to preserve his side’s lead, the pick of them to claw away a Joshua Zirkzee header with 10 minutes remaining.
A second away win of the season lifted Everton above city rivals and champions Liverpool into 11th place, level on 18 points with United, who are above them on goal difference in the Premier League.
