‘When you beat Barcelona it is always nice’
Enzo Maresca has given his post-match interview to Amazon Prime Sport. This is what he had to say:
“It’s a good win, we knew how important this game was. For sure, when you beat Barcelona it is always nice.”
On how the game went tonight: “I think Barcelona is a team that if they have the ball, they feel comfortable, but if they don’t have the ball, they don’t feel comfortable. So we try to keep the ball. Even with 11 vs 11, my feeling is very good as the team were playing very good.”
On Chelsea’s recent good form: “The defensive part is always important, you need the balance. Fortunately, in the last month we are finishing games with clean sheets. It’s something you need to do to achieve important things.”
On Chelsea’s Club World Cup win: “That has been very important for the players in terms of confidence. They realise they can win games against any team, and I said many times: When you are trying to build a winning mentality, you need to win games.”

‘We deserved the win’
More reaction now from the Chelsea camp, and Marc Cucurella has also been speaking to Amazon Prime Sport:
“We played really good, and we deserved the win with the attitude we had and with how organised we were.
“I think the game plan was really clear, it worked really well, and my teammates helped me a lot.”
On Chelsea’s recent good form: “The last couple of games we have improved a bit in defence, we have some clean sheets, which gets us some confidence, and I think we need to continue in this way. This is just the beginning, and we have a long way to go.”
On his journey to Chelsea: “I feel very proud. In a football career, you will have ups and downs, but the most important thing is to stay consistent and always try to improve and work hard. We sacrifice a lot of things when we are young and maybe need to have a more mature life than others, but after these performances like tonight, everything makes sense.”

A poor night for Barcelona
The Spanish giants looked out of sorts this evening, and they were second best all over the pitch.
Barcelona seemed unable to cope with Chelsea’s pressing, and they were overwhelmed for large parts of the match.
Star names, including Lamine Yama,l were off the boil, with Chelsea doing very well to keep Barcelona’s attacking talent quiet.
