    Mane admits Senegal’s AFCON pain

“We are not completely unhappy, as the AFCON is always tough,” Senegal scorer Sadio Mane said after the 1-1 draw with DR Congo earlier on Saturday. “It was a tough match, and in this competition, you cannot underrate any team.”

His feelings were in stark contrast with Yohan Roche, who gave DR Congo the lead.

“It is a source of immense pride,” Roche said. “We were aware of the people’s expectations, and we managed to stay focused.”

    Uganda reaction to Tanzania draw

“I have a very bad feeling because I think we didn’t deserve this draw. I think we had more opportunities,” said Uganda coach Paul Put.

Of the missed penalty, he said, “That is very, very painful, but that is also football.”

The coach, whose team plays Nigeria next, added, “It is not in our hands, but we have to believe.”

Nigeria edge Tunisia in 5-goal thriller

With just under 20 minutes remaining, it looked like the Super Eagles were on course, with a 3-0 scoreline.

However, an innocuous first goal from Talbi off a free kick, and then an 87th-minute penalty conversion by Abdi, suddenly burst the match wide open.

Tunisia had the momentum from then on, and refused to surrender it, as they sent in wave after wave of attacks. Nigeria lived very dangerously, but were just able to do enough to ensure they walked away with three important points.

The Tunisian goes up for a header in the box, with Nwabali stuck in his tracks as the ball goes harmlessly past the left post.

That was very close, and Nigeria breathe a sigh of relief. This is turning out to be a cracking end to the contest.

    Penalty

Fez erupts as Tunisia are awarded the spot kick.

Seems to be a harsh call, given it went off Osayi’s upper arm, and he had little he could do about it, but Tunisia have their moment now.
