Is this the end at City for Pep?

Pep Guardiola will leave Manchester City after a decade in charge, according to widespread reports, bringing to a close one of the most successful spells in Premier League history.

Former Chelsea boss Enzo Maresca, who led the Blues to FIFA Club World Cup victory last year, is expected to replace him.

The 55-year-old Guardiola will reportedly announce his departure shortly after City’s final ‌game of the season against Aston Villa at  Etihad Stadium, capping a campaign that included winning both the League Cup and the FA Cup trophies.

Saturday’s FA Cup victory over Chelsea secured Guardiola his 20th trophy with the club.

Maresca, who left Chelsea four months ago, has been rumoured for months to be the top contender for the Spaniard’s job. Guardiola’s contract at City is set to expire in June 2027.

    ‘Another massive win’

Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta has been speaking to Sky Sports after Arsenal took a huge step towards securing the title.

“Another massive win. We knew it was gonna be tough, especially when you don’t close the game out in the first half with the chances we had… You can sense, as well, the tension and how it means.”

On Arsenal’s dominance in the first half: “It’s some of the best football we have played this season. It was really good, and I think it should have been two or three goals up.”

On the pressure in the second half: “It’s never going to be easy, especially with the ability this Premier League has got. You witnessed that [tonight]. Burnley got relegated, but they are a top team.”

On plans for Manchester City’s game tomorrow: “I don’t know yet. I just want to enjoy tonight, and tomorrow, let’s see what we do.”

    Havertz avoids a red card

One of the biggest talking points of this match centres on a huge decision by the officials in the second half.

Havertz was booked for a challenge on Ugochukwu. It was a rash challenge, with the Arsenal man going in from behind with his studs raised.

VAR decided to stick with the on-field decision, but a number of pundits and fans have questioned the call from the video officials.
