Arsenal 3-0 Fulham: Premier League – as it happened

Iran’s preparations for the FIFA World Cup appear to be on track, as social media posts from the team’s official account hint at an upcoming tournament kit reveal and show the squad training at an undisclosed location.

Videos posted by Team Melli’s Instagram account on Monday showed players taking part in a photo shoot for what appears to be Iran’s home kit for the World Cup.

Iran are in Group G of the World Cup and will play all their games in the United States, which is cohosting the tournament with Canada and Mexico.

Several members of Iran’s squad, including first-choice goalkeeper Alireza Safar Beiranvand and winger Milad Mohammadi, were shown wearing a new kit in a series of social media posts.

The Team Melli account also posted photos from training sessions, which have been held in Iran before the squad travels to Turkiye for three friendly matches before the World Cup.

Fulham boss Marco Silva spoke with Sky Sports: “I don’t like to go this way, we should have performed much better. The goals we still have to achieve are not at the level we were.

“Things that we should analyse, it’s not the moment to talk now. We have to be ready for it.

“It was the minimum that we should have done [on an improved second half performance]. We knew it was going to happen.

“We spoke about what we should have done completely differently. They are the basics and if you look at the goals and the chances they create, they are the basics that were not there.

“It was clear at half-time, we wanted to do completely different things with winning duels. It was there in the second half but too late.

“If you don’t have all the squad ready, we have to go with the others and we trust them. We will be stronger. There are three points that we lost.

“The gap will be bigger if not, that is not under our control. We have to be very disappointed with the performance.”

Arsenal’s Myles Lewis-Skelly, who put in a scintillating performance, spoke with Sky Sports, “I feel like we have three finals left now. Every day, we try to stay in the moment as a team and take every game as it comes.

“We go into every game wanting to play with that intensity and joy, and if we play like that when we take care of that, our quality will shine through, and today was a great example of that.”

“Inside, I was buzzing, but I was just glad the manager put his trust in me [to play in midfield]. Game two done [now], another three to go. We won the most games in the history of this club in a whole season, and it’s not finished.

“The first 10 minutes were huge to set the tone. Just doing my job today, and that is what I had to do: Be effective and efficient.

“[On Mikel Arteta] That is the boss. I am grateful for him, and that shows our connection is strong.”

Arsenal boss Mikel Arteta caught up with Sky Sports after the match: “It was a great team performance. There were some great individual performances as well, which is very important.

“We started in the game as we wanted. Very lively. Really intense in the high press.

“We got the crowd going, and when this stadium creates that kind of atmosphere, it can be difficult.

“We had more players available today. It was a really good balance in terms of the qualities. It was a great performance.

“We showed a lot of authority, determination and composure. We brought a lot of energy to the stadium.

“I said before, the way he [Myles Lewis-Skelly] is acting in training, the way he is behaving around the boys is phenomenal.

“Game two done. Another three to go. We won the most games in the history of this club in a whole season, and it’s not finished.

“We have a lot of rhythm. We are used to playing every three days and we will play one of the biggest games in the history of this stadium [against Atletico Madrid in the Champions League semi-final on Tuesday].”

Arsenal’s Viktor Gyokeres scored twice to be judged Player of the Match. Here’s what he had to say to Sky Sports: “We controlled the game very well. We have to win the [remaining] games that are left.

“We showed today that we can put in a good performance. [It is an] Important three points.

“We went into the game believing that we are going to play in a good way and create a lot of chances. Today we did that.

“We never stopped believing, that is how it is.There is a lot to play for still. We are focused on the next one now [against Atletico Madrid in the Champions League semifinals on Tuesday]. Not too many games left, and we are in a good position.”

Arsenal retain pole position with 76 points after 35 matches, with a healthy goal difference of 41.

Manchester City are six points behind in second, but still have two games in hand, with a goal difference of 37.
