  • Man City guilty of all serious financial breach charges: Premier League

Away from international football, there has been more huge news from the Premier League today.

Manchester City have been found guilty of all charges of serious breaches of the Premier League’s financial rules between the 2009-10 and 2017-18 seasons, the league said in a statement.

An independent commission found that City “arranged ‘sham’ contracts” with a number of its commercial partners that misrepresented the true agreement between the parties, the league said on Tuesday.

The league added that the commission had found City used schemes “to artificially inflate the club’s revenues, and reduce its costs, by more than 900 million pounds ($1.2bn) during the affected period, to appear to comply with financial rules”.

“The core decision … details how the club systematically broke Premier League Rules for nearly a decade,” said Richard Masters, chief executive of the Premier League.

The club said in a statement that it would appeal.

  • Up next for Spain

La Roja are back in action on Saturday, hosting Czech Republic in a Nations League encounter in Oviedo.

That game kicks off at 8:45pm local time (18:45 GMT).

The world champions will then travel to Croatia for the reverse tie of this fixture on October 6.

  • Spain maintain their winning streak

La Roja have now won their last nine matches in all competitions, equalling a similar winning streak between June and July back in 2024.

Spain are also unbeaten in their last 40 matches and – on the evidence of tonight – look set to continue that run for a long while yet.

  • England win in Prague

Elsewhere in Group A3, Thomas Tuchel’s England picked up their first win of this Nations League campaign, beating Czech Republic 2-0 in Prague.

The hosts went down to 10 men after 25 minutes when Pavel Sulc was sent off for a foul on Elliot Anderson.

The game was goalless at the break, but the Three Lions scored soon after with Anthony Gordon heading home for his second England goal in two games.

Harry Kane added a second as England ensured all three points.

  • Spain ease to victory in Sevilla

This game provided the home fans with an opportunity to celebrate their team winning the World Cup in the summer – they’ll be heading away from the stadium confident that they can do it again on home soil in four years.

Spain showed their attacking quality, their resilience and their strength in depth as they dispatched Croatia in Sevilla.

Teenage sensation Lamine Yamal scored after just two minutes as Spain came out of the blocks firing.

Croatia pulled a goal back through Beljo, but the world champions responded almost immediately.

Yamal crossed for Pubill who headed home to restore Spain’s lead.

The visitors made a strong start to the second half, but the hosts upped their game when it was required and brilliant goals from Yamal and Williams sealed the deal.

  • Full-time

The home fans sing the national anthem as the referee blows up.

Spain were just too strong for their opponents.

    This was all Williams.

The winger picks up the ball on the left and displays great footwork to take the ball away from Sutalo before firing a shot towards the far corner with his left foot.

    Livakovic wasn’t stopping that.
