Arab Group at UNSC condemns Israel for repeated attacks, incursions in Syria
The Arab Group coalition at the UN Security Council has denounced Israel for its “incursions and repeated attacks” in Syria, calling on Israeli forces to immediately withdraw from all Syrian territory, including the occupied Golan Heights.
Representing the Arab Group at the Security Council, Saudi Arabia’s Permanent Representative to the UN Abdulaziz al-Wasel said Israeli attacks and incursions into Syria constitute “a flagrant violation of Syrian sovereignty and territorial integrity”.
Israel has occupied most of Syria’s Golan Heights since the June 1967 War and expanded its occupation after the fall of longtime Syrian ruler Bashar al-Assad in late 2024.
Israeli forces have also carried out air strikes in Syria since al-Assad’s ouster, killing civilians and targeting military sites, equipment and ammunition.

UNICEF urges accountability for Israel’s killings of Palestinian children
The UN Children’s Fund (UNICEF) has called on Israel “to take decisive action to protect Palestinian children” after a series of recent attacks killed and wounded several in the occupied West Bank and Gaza Strip.
Edouard Beigbeder, UNICEF’s Middle East and North Africa director, pointed to a recent shooting near Hebron in the West Bank that killed a seven-month-old boy, as well as the killings of eight children in Israeli attacks on Gaza at the weekend.
“We cannot let this become the new normal – children losing their lives to violence should cause global outrage and must be condemned at every level,” Beigbeder said in a statement.
“In the West Bank, including East Jerusalem, the killing and injuring of children and their families, forced displacement, and attacks on schools, homes, water and health infrastructure show a flagrant disregard for children’s rights.”
He urged the Israeli authorities to ensure “transparent, credible, and robust investigations, as well as accountability whenever children are killed or maimed”.
Rights groups have documented Israel’s systemic failure to investigate Israeli troops or settlers involved in attacks against Palestinians, including children. That includes several deadly incidents that were captured on video.

UN chief warns Gaza still facing ‘immense human suffering’
The UN chief says Gaza is still facing “profound uncertainty & immense human suffering … despite the ceasefire announced 8 months ago”.
His comments come as Israel has continued to launch deadly attacks on Gaza despite the US-brokered truce that came into effect in October.
According to the Palestinian Health Ministry in Gaza, at least 981 Palestinians have been killed and 3,104 wounded in Israeli attacks on Gaza since the “ceasefire” began.
At least 72,991 Palestinians have been killed by Israel since its genocidal war on Gaza began in 2023.
Despite the ceasefire announced 8 months ago, Gaza still faces profound uncertainty & immense human suffering.
It’s time to get serious about the only credible way forward:
An end to the occupation & a two-State solution, where two independent, sovereign, democratic States –…

Iran had been bracing for this attack
The Iranians had been bracing for this since the afternoon, since the Americans began to talk about a new wave of strikes.
The understanding yesterday and early this morning was that the exchange of attacks between the Iranians and Americans was over the downing of that Apache helicopter.
Both sides announced the end of their operations with regard to that situation. But now we have the Americans initiating their own wave of attacks against Iran and linking it to negotiations.
They seem to be impatient and unhappy about the pace of talks.
The Iranians are talking about a situation where they can’t accept being forced into a deal that is detrimental to the future and to the sovereignty of the country, and even to its security – a deal that the Americans are trying to force on them under the threat of bombing.

Renewed US attacks aim to force diplomatic progress through military might
CENTCOM said forces began launching strikes against multiple targets in Iran.
We’ve heard from Trump and Hegseth over the last few hours, saying that the reason for new renewed attacks was that the pace of the negotiations was not moving fast enough.
Hegseth said he was trying to create diplomatic space, and he was going to do it using bombs. So you can see that they say this is about defence and it’s a response to what the Iranians did in response to the Americans 24 hours ago.
But this is really, in their eyes, a response to the Iranians and their reaction to the attacks of 24 hours ago.

- Gorgan

Iran will ‘never submit to pressure or coercion’: UN envoy
Iran’s ambassador to the UN says “no sustainable deal can be reached through threats, intimidation or the use of force”.
“The president of the United States should refrain from his recurring threats against Iran, including his renewed threat of force made today,” Amir Saeid Iravani said during a meeting at the UN Security Council.
“Iran has never negotiated under threats and pressure, and will never submit to pressure or coercion,” said Iravani, adding that the US “should have learned by now that the threats and military intimidation are counterproductive”.
“If Washington is genuinely interested in a diplomatic solution, it must abandon the language of threats and engage with Iran on the basis of mutual respect, sovereign equality and full adherence to international law.”

The US military’s Central Command (CENTCOM) says its forces have launched “additional self-defence strikes” against “multiple targets in Iran”.

Statements of defiance coming out of Iran amid threats
We’re hearing statements of defiance talking about absolute readiness on the part of the Iranian armed forces and the IRGC for any eventual strike on Iran tonight.
They’ve been listening to the rhetoric coming from the US and particularly from the president and his defence secretary.
They say they have what it takes to defend the country and that the armed forces are in full mode of alert and capabilities to do what is necessary to defend the Iranian territory against any strike from the US.
